In 1995 George decided he had had enough of the corporate word and left to begin a new adventure with Marianne. What began as a window covering business has grown to a complete design center under George’s careful eye and keen business sense. George is an avid guitar fan and plays almost daily. Ask him how many guitars he owns? He also enjoys golf and keeping up on his favorite sports teams.
Marianne has been designing since 1996 and owned Altra Home Décor with George since 2005. She enjoys developing long term relationships with her clients and is thrilled when they return for another project. She is a certified Hunter Douglas window treatment expert and will happily find the right treatment for you. Kitchen and bath design are also a passion of hers and she has created many beautiful designs for her clients. When not busy at work she enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes on George. They both love to travel, but only if there is no snow – warm and exotic if you please. If Archie and Edie, their beloved Jack Russell Terriers, can join them on the trip that makes it even better.
After leaving Cleveland for the warmth of the Arizona sun, Don joined Altra Home Décor and is our installer extraordinaire. With over 30 years of installing window treatments under his belt, Don will not leave until the window treatments look perfect. He checks all the window treatments before they leave the workroom to make sure they are up to the high standards of Altra Home Décor. Don is a new grandpa and loves visiting family, unfortunately that means Cleveland. He plays golf whenever he can – even in 110 degrees!
Originally from Scotland, Jennifer came to Arizona and received her degree in Interior Design from Scottsdale Community College. She has experience in all areas – from flooring to countertops to window treatments. She is your go to girl. Her motto is “Vision is the art of seeing what’s invisible to others.” Whenever she can, she goes back to the UK to visit her Grandma. She is fanatical about her pets, currently 1 dog and 2 cats, all of whom are rescues. Jennifer has been with her partner, Frank, for five years and together they love to travel and discover new places. Never afraid of a challenge, Jennifer has laid laminate, wood and tile floors, installed kitchen counter tops, backsplash and shower surround, even artificial turf.
Bert, as she is known to her friends, has a great attention to detail. She creates the amazing windows treatments that are installed in your home. She has been creating window fashions since 1970. She also creates beautiful hand loomed rugs in the traditional Indian style. These rugs can take a year or more to weave and are in high demand to a every elite clientele. When not weaving rugs, Bert loves doting on her grandson Patrick.
Archie and Edith are our official mascots. These two Jack Russell Terriers are in the showroom most days to greet you and guide you around the showroom.
